Description: Do you know Webmin ? the "de facto" standard in web system
administration in the free world.

Do you know "mmc" ? it's a framework, comming from Microsoft, that permit to
create and manage "plugins" (mainly activeX). These will permit to administer
software components around the company. providing Cut and past, folders, nice
GUI, ...

Webmin is not really nice looking and fonctionnal, and mmc is running only in
win32 (and obviously is not free (as in speech))

My objective is to make an FOSS equivalent of MMC, which will be called "gmc"
(Gnu Management Console) with the following characteristics:

- this won't look like webmin.
- it will use AJAX technologies
- plugin architecture
   - server side: python classes which provides the backend
   - client side: modern browser which run javascript code (on top of
qooxdoo)
   - json for the transport
   - ssl for the authentication and encryption.
- the whole objective is to put in place all the infrastructure needed for
custom plugins (think about a good bacula frontend, or a good samba
administration console, ...)

With the qooxdoo framework, making nice and fonctionnal GUI is easier than
ever.

Making a good documentation will be the point here too. without that i'm sure
no one will use the framework, even if it's good.

Other Software Required: python
apache httpd
qooxdoo

Other Comments: i've asked where to send an email with source code in
address@hidden waiting for the reply
