io8oi's goal is a personalized, modular and user-controlled search. 

Main areas of interest are:

1. how to apply indifference curves to search results
2. how to exploit indifference in results?
3. how to break search into small parts that users are free to modify?
4. main modes: path-depended-searching, state-depended-searching, --?
5. leveraging analysis/mining techniques for the benefit of users?
6. advanced UI modes such as vi-style combos, TAB and similar

The currently most prevalent languages are JS, Python and R but it is due to
get more diversified.
