= Registration Details =

* Name: *python-configure*
* System Name:  *pyconfigure*
* Type: Official GNU software
* License: Other (The scripts use a general permissive so they can reach
widespread use. I feel this is appropriate because it further encourages the
use of GNU software (Make and Autoconf in particular). This is precedented by
autoconf-archive.)

----

==== Description: ====
python-configure is a template configure script and Makefile for Python-based
packages which aims to meet and exceed the capabilities of the traditional
distutils method.

The project consists of a robust set of m4 macros for Autoconf, a base
configure.ac file and a ready-to-use configure script generated from it. A
powerful Makefile template is also included.

==== Other Software Required: ====
GNU Make (gnu.org/s/make; gpl)
GNU Autoconf (gnu.org/s/make; gpl)
Python distutils (python.org; Python license)

==== Other Comments: ====
This was recently submitted and accepted as a GNU project.
