Is the problem reproducible, in that if you try now (6h after your
original mail) do you get the same error message?

Are you able to access http://cvs.savannah.nongnu.org/ via your web
browser (the server was migrated a few months ago, but maybe you have
old DNS settings in a hosts file)?
