Details:

When I try to start a new screen it does not produce any output. The cursor
freezes on the line below the screen command. The only way I've found to get
out of the freeze is to press ^Z (suspend). When I type 'fg' screen complains
that it can not find the session /var/run/uscreen/S-user/bla.bla .

This only happens on /dev/ttyS0. The S-user/bla.bla directory is not
created.

It works just fine on /dev/pty/<number> and /dev/tty<number> terminals
(pseudo and virtual consoles).

I can resume an existing screen session on /dev/ttyS0 using screen -r.

I can use this terminal to start a screen session by first executing an ssh
localhost, which gives me a /dev/pts/<number> terminal, and then just type
screen.

I run SuSE Linux 11.2 on a HP PC. I have a Wyse 520 terminal connected to the
serial port /dev/ttyS0.

I run agetty on /dev/ttyS0 so that I'm able to log in on this terminal.

Starting screen on the virtual consoles works just fine. I think it's just
the name ttyS0 that makes it impossible for screen to create the new session.
