Any news here? I'd really like to see that fixed properly for the
upcoming Debian release.

We're in freeze for the release now and as of now I just have an ugly
hack which copies the old 4.0.3 binary to /tmp/ before the upgrade so
it's still available for reattaching after e.g. connection loss.
