Agreed. And to the tree presentation: would it not be better to show the 
newest versions first? In case you have a large tree, the user can focus 
immediately at the most recent changes.

When in Sofia we discussed that both Niyam's compare changes UI design 
and the tree view could be combined into one. Federico was making a 
drawing of that for the team.
