Well out of AVR land right now, but just for grunts I built a new avr toolchain 
from scratch, and the newest avr-libc, and cvs update'd simulavr and built it, 
ran my old programs, and... looks great.

It's unlikely I'll get anywhere near AVR stuff this year, but if I do, thanks.
