I would suggest getting CVS of both aleona, and of stratagus.  They are both 
quite playable, even though there is not a release.

once you have got them both down, compile stratagus. 
autoconf && ./configure && make

and in aleona directory
./buildfcmp ../stratagus/dir

once you have done that run the game with
stratagus -d data.aleona

and it should work.

If you go to #stratagus on irc.freenode.net  someone should be able to help 
you, however we are short of people at this time of year.  Christmas and all.
