Maybe you can find something useful in save-restore.lisp:
http://hocwp.free.fr/stumpwm/save-restore.lisp
It's the way I use to replace virtual desktops: with it, I can save
the current layout in a hash table and reuse them latter.
The benefit over virtual desktop is that one can have the same window
in different desktop but with a different layout.
