grub participation in gsoc 09

Hi

I'm trying to help stir interest and find mentors/projects for grub this 
year.  I'm not a committer or sure if grub should apply on its own or if 
it will automatically fall under the gnu umbrella.  Should we submit our 
ideas now or can we wait until later?
