programing multi-agent system

Hi, I'm a magister student in Colombia and I'm currently working on my
thesis.  It  is about cooperative information gathering using multi-agents
system.   Can anybody please tell me where can I find information about how
to program agents and multi-agents system in Java or in general, anything
that has to do with my thesis topic?
