[Swarm-Modelling] postdoctoral opportunity in Paris

We are offering a 2/3 years post‐doc position to work on the use of
detailed contact tracing data in agent-based models of nosocomial
bacterial transmission.
Transmission of bacteria in the hospital is a complex process, where the
environment, organization, staffing and case‐mix interplay. The role
of health care workers is debated: they are likely to be colonized by the
bacteria of patients; but they may also transmit bacteria through hand
carriage for example. Within the MOSAR project
(https://www.mosar‐sic.org/mosar/en‐GB/), a prospective
follow‐up of contacts between patients and staff has been set up in
a hospital department using a unique approach where close contacts were
recorded using RFID technology. Moreover, this contact tracing data has
been combined with the collection of detailed data on individual
antibiotic use and colonization status.
The objective of this position is to work on integrating such detailed
contact data in agent‐based models of nosocomial bacterial
transmission such as NOSOSIM (http://sites.google.com/site/nososim/), and
to design  methods to estimate model parameters in view of interpreting
observed epidemics. Ideally, the applicant should have completed
a PhD in computer science, (bio)-mathematics or (bio)-statistics, and be
willing to work with real data. A previous experience in complex systems
modeling or in working with graphs would be welcome. Knowledge of
a programming language (C / Java) is required.
The candidate would work directly with PY Boëlle (INSERM U707) and L
Temime (CNAM); and in close connection with the other partners of the
MOSAR project involved in this work package [D Guillemot (Institut Pasteur
/ Versailles University), E Fleury (ENS Lyon)].
The position is located in Paris. Annual net salary 25,000€. Health
insurance included.
