Marcus,

Thanks for the help (ditto PJ & KC). I built every needed software (+
the kernel) with gcc2.8.1 but the error remained.

I built Swarm without optimisation and the error went away ... Why? I
suppose I shouldn't ask. By turning off optimization what am I losing?
Anyway, I'm just posting this to place an entry in the usergroup index
in case anyone else needs it.

I'm fortunate that I was debugging my model at the time of the upgrade
so the error was easily isolated. If my full model was running such an
error could have possibly become published!. Well, as easily as
anything gets published :) How does this sort of thing impact on the
aim of creating an environment conducive to reproducible experiments?

One of the aims of OOP is that one can safely use modules with
trust. The error I experienced with this upgrade questions that
assumption and impinges on the question of testability. Catherine take
note! Perhaps in addition to using heatbugs/market etc. we should try
to create a test suite that picks up this sort of error. O.K. this is
something to devolve to the user group. I'll try to find time to
reproduce my error in a handy test-script.

Anyway, the configure script worked well (as does tcl/tk/BLT/tclobjc).

I'm glad it got sorted even though I don't know how. I felt I was
getting on your nerves after being cited as 'you>' in the last
response.

Cheers, Steve --
