With swarm 1.2 we know the blt8.0-unofficial is OK.
The BLT2.4e is beta software and some "hacks" are needed on it
to make your errors go away. blt8.0-swarm-0 on the ftp site is the one
to use with swarm1.2. I know its frustrating for you. We've talked
now and then about creating a Software Map. Marcus Daniels made a
list of software dependencies and posted it a while ago but I can't seem
to find it right now.

There is a long complicated story behind the blt editions. From what I
understand, swarm 1.3 will work with
an updated version of blt2.4 or blt8.0.

If you can wait a week or two (or three, you know how it goes),
there is going to be swarm 1.3 released and I'll have Redhat style
RPMS for you. I made an RPM of blt8.0 on my system and I'm glad to
share it with you. Within 1 hour, it should be found in

This one is not perfect, and I know what my mistake was, but it
takes a long time to recompile it, so I have not recompiled it. The e
rror happens at runtime, after you type "heatbugs" it will say "cant
find BLT_LIBRARY or some such rot." But
there is an easy fix. You set an environment variable for BLT_LIBRARY,
as in

   $ export BLT_LIBRARY=/usr/library

You can compile Swarm1.2 against this well enough, or at least I did.
I've also got an rpm for libffi if you want to try it.

You can recompile it yourself from the src.rpm I also put in my swarm
directory.
