It's a bug.  libtool should be invoked from an explicit shell (the one
on the CD-ROM) in the makefile, but instead attempts to use /bin/sh as
specified in the script header.

The workaround is to copy the /bin/sh on the CD-ROM to /bin/sh on the
hard drive.  /bin/sh is the only file that needs to be installed.
