Dear Mister Daniels,

Before you had some correspondance about the installation of SWARM with
one of our system
administrators. I would very much like to use the SWARM system for my
final term project.
There still seem to be some problems, however. I was hoping you could
shed some light one the
situation. We are not able to run the demos that have a graphical
interface (like heatbugs and mousetrap). We have installed all the
needed software (the exact same versions that you recommend).

        libBLT.so =>     /usr/local/Swarm/opt/SDGblt/2.4g/lib/libBLT.so
        libtk8.0.so =>   /usr/local/Swarm/lib/libtk8.0.so
        libtcl8.0.so =>  /usr/local/Swarm/lib/libtcl8.0.so
        libXpm.so.4.8 => /usr/local/Swarm/lib/libXpm.so.4.8
        libpng.so.2 =>
/usr/local/Swarm/opt/SDGlibpng/1.0.3/lib/libpng.so.2
        libffi.so.1 =>
/usr/local/Swarm/opt/SDGlibffi/1.20/lib/libffi.so.1
        libX11.so.4 =>   /usr/openwin/lib/libX11.so.4
        libsocket.so.1 => /usr/lib/libsocket.so.1
        libnsl.so.1 =>   /usr/lib/libnsl.so.1
        libm.so.1 =>     /usr/lib/libm.so.1
        libdl.so.1 =>    /usr/lib/libdl.so.1
        libc.so.1 =>     /usr/lib/libc.so.1
        libucb.so.1 =>   /usr/ucblib/libucb.so.1
        libresolv.so.2 => /usr/lib/libresolv.so.2
        libelf.so.1 =>   /usr/lib/libelf.so.1
        libXext.so.0 =>  /usr/openwin/lib/libXext.so.0
        libmp.so.2 =>    /usr/lib/libmp.so.2

still the applications 'core dump'. A stack trace shows:

Furthermore step-by-step execution shows that while executing statement:

    theTopLevelSwarm = [MousetrapObserverSwarm createBegin: globalZone];

in main.m (rule 30) the parameter argc are overwritten,
(a memory fault ?)

    (gdb) up 20
    (gdb) print argc
    $3 = 2146824
    (gdb)

I hope you can find the time to take a look at this problem,

yours sincerely,
Floortje Alkemade
