What happened is that glibc-2.1 provides a number of string functions
either as inline assembly or to use `smart' compile-time constant detection.
Unfortunately Objective C `[object message]' syntax requires extra parens
when passed as arguments.
Our current sources have these changes. Ping me and I'll point you to them.
