I suggest M-x shell in Emacs because the history can be saved in order
to record results or errors. Also, if the shell locks up (esp. on Windows
98), it one has a good chance of shutting it down by killing the buffer.
Btw, the "Cygnus shell" is `bash', a program that is not a terminal
emulator.
