generating exponential

can someone help me:

I've to generate exponential times with variable rate:

[t0,t1]    rate    lambda1

[t1,t2]    rate    lambda2

[t2,t3]    rate    lambda3
.............

the problem is how to manage the jump from one interval to onother?
