RE: problem with ProbeMap and java and subclass?

thanks again, all my probe-related calls seem to be working now.

I've been porting old code for a project which has been resurrected from
swarm 1.01 days and trying to learn both Probes and java as I go, my
experience being with Objective C and batch-mode models.

Another question I'm stuck at, is there a normal way of dealing with java
String instance variables and ProbeMaps, to see the String contents instead
of "java.lang.String"? Or are some probe get- and set- methods needed to
work with string variables?

The closest example that I've seen is the 'status' field in the jmousetrap
demo (Observer Swarm Controller and Model Swarm Controller panels), which
displays either "Initialized" or "Running". It might be what I need but I
couldn't tell how it was working or what data type it really was.

thanks, Steve
