Yes, you should build 2001-03-20 on Linux (or install recent RPMs) if you
want that symbol.
In Swarm 2.1.1, the SwarmEnvironment class was hand-coded to provide
some common globals. Since then, a formal protocol was added to
describe more of the globals in Swarm (see the GETTERS in src/swarm.h
in the source distribution).
This way, access to the simulator globals works the same across
different language layers.
