Many thanks for the help. But now I have a new problem.
First I say:

address@hidden ~]$ rpm -qf /usr/man/man3/pthread_create.3thr.gz
glibc-devel-2.1.3-15

Then I do:

address@hidden ~]$ rpm -qa | grep libc
glibc-2.1.3-15
glibc-devel-2.1.3-15
libc-5.3.12-31

so I should be good to go, right? uhhh ...
