I dont know exactly, but:

Did you say you have jdk1.3.1 or better symlinked to /usr/local/jdk1.3 ?

When you do the export LD_LIBRARY_PATH, add :$LD_LIBRARY_PATH on the end
of it.

Does traditional Swarm Java work for you?  If not, we have a whole other
problem...
