You don't mention what the compile-time problem is.  I don't see it in 
Linux, but my compiler is probably different.  Even the C library is 
probably different.

I don't think it matters that you commented that out, though.  That 
original code was full of global functions and pointers flying off 
everywhere and apparently I did not kill all of them.  But I killed a 
lot!  After Thomas Badegruber and I finally got ASM-2.4 to replicate the 
behavior of the original sfsm, I made a vow to stop "cleaning up things" 
for fear of tipping the balance...
