Hi Jim,
Not sure if this is the case with you also, but I experienced same kind 
of problem when I tried to load converted SWF files with Adobe AIR.
pdf2swf obviously inserts an "allowDomain()" command on pages, which is 
not allowed by Adobe AIR.
I did not succeed to solve it yet, but must admit that I did not spend a 
lot of time searching for a solution.
I suggested that a switch could control the insertion of that command, 
but was not heard yet ;-)
