Since no one has reported new bugs or raised objections, I'm going to go
ahead and publish a new SysV init snapshot, this one carrying the
version number 2.89. There haven't been any major overhauls of the code
or big feature changes, the changes since 2.88 have been mostly bug
fixes. For example, init handles finding libraries more broadly, should
compile on a wider range of systems (like GNU Hurd and GNU/kFreeBSD),
works with SELinux on Debian-based systems and so on.

Most of my work these past few months has focused on applying downstream
patches/fixes, cleaning up compiler warnings and updating the
documentation. Reboot times on my machines have been improved slightly
too, by around 1-2 seconds. People who want to get caught up on the
changes since the last version can read up on the changlog [1].

Last, but not least, I've talked with some of the packagers from
downstream projects, such as MX Linux and antiX, and invited them to
submit bug reports and patches so they're not carrying the burden of
maintenance.

Jesse
