What needs to be said here is that they apply a fundamentally bad notion of 'offline payments': delayed deanoymiziation of double-spenders is not only making privacy brittle, but moreover is insecure as deanonymization doesn't imply that you can recover the funds --- or even that the double spender is truly guilty. So naturally they don't bother to explain these social implications of their design in the paper, but those are critical and the reason why this approach will fundamentally never fly.
