Do you need this information at compile time, or at the startup of texmacs ?
Both, it seems to me. But I don't know much about the inner workings of TeXmacs.
With guile-1.6 and guile-1.6-dev installed : % guile-config --version guile-config: Command not found. % guile-1.6-config --version guile-1.6-config - Guile version 1.6.4 % guile -c '(display %load-path) (display "\n")' (/usr/share/guile/site /usr/share/guile/1.6 /usr/share/guile .)
Yes, so this is exactly the same situation as on MacOSX/Fink (except s|usr|sw|). Maybe I should look at the debian texmacs package...
...Oh, I see you have for 1.0.1.9 a HUGE patch file where among other things you basically remove the guile-path-detecting intelligence from Basic/System/dir.cc and rewrite the configure file. (And the -dNOEPS flag for gs! Should have seen this earlier...)
In /usr/share/guile/1.4, resp. /usr/share/guile/1.6, which seems pefectly logical to me.And where are the files? In /usr/share/guile/1.6/, I suppose?
Same as on MacOSX/Fink. But this doesn't seem to work with TeXmacs-out-of-the-box.
