Hi developers,
I would like to report what is, in my opinion, a non-native behavior of the
TeXmacs GUI under Mac OS X. In particular, in dialogs (e.g. the save-file
dialog), when a user is prompted to choose an action (such as cancel or save),
one cannot navigate through the buttons giving the options, via keyboard (the
tab key). Normally under OS X, one can navigate through all controls (if you
have selected Full keyboard access -> All controls in the Keyboard pane of the
System preferences) via keyboard.
Even better, in OS X one option is pre-selected (rendered blue) and can be
chosen by hitting Enter and, usually, an additional option is "highlited"
(rendered with a blue outline) which can be chosen by pressing the spacebar
(e.g. without cycling through the options and hitting enter). This is very
practical. I am missing the feature in TeXmacs-qt.
Best,
Peter.
P.S.: I am using Mac OS X 10.6.8 and TeXmacs 10.7.19 (qt version from Fink)
P.S.2: What happened to the Cocoa version of TeXmacs? Is it going to be
developed further? There is a kick starter project for GNUstep right now,
aiming to reach compatibility of GNUstep with Mac OS X 10.6 (Cocoa). I am not a
programmer but GNUstep seems to be at least as good a multi-platform option as
qt.
