Which actually is just an accident and completely useless.

There is a "Borland-style CONIO" at SF:
     http://conio.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/conio/conio2/
You would just add that "conio.c" to your list of sources.
You can comment out the "#include <unistd.h>" (probably).
