Compound literals were support only in a limited way.  E.g. they couldn't 
be fully used in struct initializers.  After my recent mob update from 
today that should all be working fully.  I haven't tried the above thing, 
though.  If it's still not working I can have a look if somebody creates 
a smallish testcase out of it.
