Hmm, this happens sometimes, when Tramp detects anomalies on the remote
side. In your traces, there is the following sequence:

> 15:06:14 tramp-find-inline-encoding (1) # File error: Couldn't find an inline 
> transfer encoding

It is not obvious to me, why this happened. And Tramp tried to
resynchronize itself afterwards.

However, vc-file-clearprops shall be tolerant with this. So I've added a
check to that function in Emacs CVS, that it doesn't run into an error.
