I assume it's been obscured a while (vileopts appears in late 2006).
The message is "there", but hidden by other message(s) that get there
first.
I'll see if I can make the message show up more reliably...

the latter - seems that it went away at that time, retaining the
message that you're not seeing. This is in 9.5l, looking at the
rcs history.

yes - it's part of the restructuring that I did to handle multiple
"-c" options on the command-line.
