Follow-up Comment #2:

This function already exists. It's a key function, with name
"jump_previous_buffer". Default key for that is meta-j then meta-p.
You can rebind to another key, for example on "meta-z":
/key meta-z jump_previous_buffer

Maybe this will be added to /buffer command in next version, function keys
will probably be rewritten or removed.
