Follow-up Comment #14, bug #23153 (project weechat):

I have join/part/quit messages disabled and still experience this same
doubling of lines issue time to time.

The scrolling too much hypothesis seems possible... Hitting CTRL-L right
after I see this problem, refreshes the buffer with the duplicate line removed
(the extra line still exists but is blank at this point). 

I'm running weechat under gnu screen (logged in remotely w/ putty).
