[Aspell-user] Aspell installed but unable to find libaspell.so.15

I compiled, make, and make installed the latest version of aspell today. I
thought it went properly, but adding a dictionary cant find it, and just
typing "aspell" tells me "error while loading shared libraries:
libaspell.so.15: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory"

I used locate and it found it fine:
address@hidden etc]# locate libaspell.so.15
/root/aspell/aspell-0.60.2/.libs/libaspell.so.15.1.2
/root/aspell/aspell-0.60.2/.libs/libaspell.so.15
/usr/local/lib/libaspell.so.15.1.2
/usr/local/lib/libaspell.so.15
and an ls reviels it does exist.

Im clueless as to what the problem is.
