Thanks. I see no file called aspell.so - maybe that's the problem. I see a
libaspell.so and it is in a directory included in ld.so.conf.
I get a shell prompt and type:
$ man
$ command not found
They must not give me access to man pages either.

I've told you to look at man 8 ld.so and to read about LD_LIBRARY_PATH
or just put aspell.so file in standard directory indexed in ld.so.conf
like /usr/lib or /usr/local/lib.
