Ah, you are right, I have not checked that yet. So it would be
necessary to state the history of icelandic.el in case we have to
recreate danish.el at one point from scratch.
I see in ChangeLog.old
1997-03-13 Per Abrahamsen <address@hidden>
* style/danish.el: Copied from `style/dk.el'.
* Makefile (STYLESRC): Added `style/danish.el'.

No further information I can find. dk.el has been checked into CVS by
"amanda" in 1993. I'd guess that this was Per's account name.
And dk.el is, by itself, ridiculously content-free (just calls a
language hook), in spite of being unchanged since version 1.1 which
has "lots of changes" in its log entry.
I don't think that rewriting icelandic.el without looking at danish.el
is going to buy us anything.
