Again, in case the trouble you've had is due to my 'old' installation 
manual, please note that installation instructions vor 11.55 do not 
meet all points of installing a recent developer version that comes 
bundled with preview-latex. I will publish an updated version of my 
tutorial as soon as 11.80 is out. Anyway, the best way to go is to read 
the manual that comes with AUCTeX, especially when trying snapshots.
