You mean that the feature of inserting two dollar signs upon typing
`$' be removed from LaTeX mode (but not from plain TeX mode)?  That'd
be fine with me.  Perhaps we should even remove syntax highlighting
for $$..$$ constructs completely in LaTeX mode.
