C-c', not `C-c C-c C-f'.]
Please keep the mailing list copied. I'm quoting everything (except

else has an idea what the problem might be.

Hm, do you get a backtrace when starting Emacs or loading a LaTeX file
if you put the line
(setq debug-on-error t)
as the first line into your .emacs file and restart Emacs? Do you see
a line like
Loading /usr/local/share/emacs/site-lisp/tex-site.el (source)...done
in the *Messages* buffer after loading the first LaTeX file right
after a restart? If you see one, does the file mentioned in this line
contain a `TeX-modes-set' function?
