Hello,I found a couple of discussions of font size and preview width on this list, and the advice to customize preview-scale-function to increase font size worked for me. I just want to give my rationale for this. The default font size in previews is indeed equal to the Emacs font size; however, x-heights may be different. For example, I use the buffer font called simply "monospace" in Ubuntu at size 12. (preview-document-pt) returns 10, and the default scale is 1.21. I include the screenshots of a word in preview and in the document (at 100% and 500%); the x-height of the word in preview is noticeably smaller, which gives an appearance of a smaller font. Also, the buffer font seems bolder, and smoothing and hinting make it seem clearer, which may contribute to the perceived difference in sizes.
One other thing: section 6.2 of the Preview Manual says that preview-scale-function can be customized in the preview-latex group, but it is located in preview-appearance group.
Concerning the width, I am editing a draft document, where I don't want to bother about overfulls yet. Again, the preview is reasonably cut where the right margin begins on paper; however, for now I want it to be, say, 1.5 times wider so that I can see the whole formula.
So, could you say how to increase the preview width? Thank you, Evgeny
