[avr-libc-dev] Licensing issue

Hello,

I apologize for bothering this list with mundane legal stuff (I posted a 
related topic to the AVR-gcc list, but have not gotten any response)
, but I am looking at GCC and AVR-libc as a replacement for our current 
compiler, but am not sure of exactly what the documentation requirements are 
for using AVR-libc in a commercial product.
I would like to have a single text that would cover the entire library, so that 
I would not have to trace down exactly what files are used in each project, 
whatever gets linked in is covered. Ideally it also would be concise and not 
take 20 pages to print.

Each file states that the "above copyright notice", "this list of conditions", 
and "following disclaimer" must be included, however there is a great variance 
in these items between files.

There are at least 20 versions of the copyright notices for about 10 people 
(and I am not sure I got them all). There are at least three versions of the 
list of conditions (three condition, two condition, University of Ca.). There 
are also at least three versions of the disclaimer ("normal", University of 
Ca., and a University of Ca. modified for an individual) and I have not checked 
the specific text of the disclaimers to be sure, so there could be many more. 
These differences are in a mix and match configuration, so it makes putting 
together a single concise text that meets the requirements of all the files in 
the library a daunting task.

I think you have done a great job at making a technically outstanding product 
and I appreciated all the work that everyone has put in to this library and 
would probably already be using it for commercial applications, but 
unfortunately this license thing is a stumbling block. I would greatly 
appreciate any guidance you might have.
