Record cotnact activity ?

Hello,

do you know if it is possible to record informations of a contact
right into the notes field of a contact ? I mean something like an
activity log which would give me some insight from last time I call a
contact or send him a message.

Eventually, it would automatically store any mail activity as soon as
I post, answer or read a message from/to a contact.
