I have a bunch of .png files, each of which is an image of a page (a
little smaller than a page, actually--US Letter sized). Here's what
happens when I try to print:
$ a2ps -A virtual 540-0*
[540-01-BW400.png (png, delegated to ImageMagick): 1 page on 1 sheet]
[540-02-BW400.png (png, delegated to ImageMagick): 3 pages on 2 sheets]
[Total: 4 pages on 2 sheets] sent to the default printer
I end up with each image on a separate sheet on the left side, with
the right side blank. I have tried many variations on the virtual
syntax, to no avail. For example
a2ps --help says
-A, --file-align=MODE align separate files according to MODE (fill, rank
page, sheet, or a number)
Unlike the man and info pages, this has "fill" but doesn't have
"virtual".
On the other hand, when I print with a2ps -1 I get an image that is
truncated slightly at the top, using the whole page. There is no
truncation with the 2-up.
I am running version 4.13b-16 on Debian GNU/Linux. imagemagick is
version 5.4.4.5-1.
I have filed some Debian bugs related to this:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=189230
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=190593
Here's some more info on a2ps:
$ a2ps --list=defau
