Here is what I see launching with --silent --noColor --noCIN --rawCIN
Which matches your sample.
So with those options I lose indenting and function editing line numbering.
But at least we match which is certainly a step ahead (or perhaps sideways ;})
Now I will dig into how to interface with the interpreter.
I'll check out in more detail what emacs mode does.
