I wondered if there was any interest in incorporating Raphaël Droz's
patches to add colour to tab suggestions, like the colour listings
from 'ls --color'. It would seem like a simple and useful feature to
have (and is said to exist already in other shells like zsh and fish).
The patches are at
http://gitorious.org/drzraf/bash/commits/enhanced-completion (patches
1/6 to 8/6). I have applied these patches to the bash-4.2 source and
successfully built a version with colour support.
The original emails about the patches can be read at
http://www.mail-archive.com/bug-bash@gnu.org/msg09296.html (or see
email with X-Message-Id: 20110530233242.GA9464@b1b1.lan).
