Thanks for the report. I just upgraded to Xcode 12 myself. This was fixed
about a year ago in the bash devel branch, and the fix is in bash-5.1,
currently in beta.
If you want to test the fix yourself, I've attached a patch to aclocal.m4.
You'll have to run `autoconf' to regenerate `configure', then re-run
`configure'.
