Hi Njuguna,
No offense taken :) I initially thought this too. However, I was displaying the addresses and their bin counts while the histogram was being written, so I was tracking all the addresses and _boot and _boot0's addresses had a bin count of 0. Additionally, another group at Xilinx was doing something similar in making gmon.out files and they also saw that there are spurious references to functions that were never called...
Ok then. Unfortunately this about exhausts the obvious tests that I can think of. It is going to require proper debugging of gprof to find out where these spurious references come from. Can you help with this ? I am rather swamped with my real job at the moment and about to go off on holiday, so I do not really have the time to look into it. :-(
Cheers Nick
